Lake of Dreams

Lake of Dreams is a cooperative 2 player bullethell game played on one keyboard. While it starts off light hearted, you will quickly notice that things can get a bit darker (and quite frankly - utterly cursed) if you look close enough (and manage to survive that long as the game can be quite difficult at times)

A very early alpha (most areas are unfinished if you go south and bugs are to be expected - also music is something that is missing almost entirely so feel free to listen to your own jams until the game music and sounds are fully added, BUT! It already has enough content to sink at least a few hours into this game)

Controls:

Player 1/2:

WASD/Arrow Keys - Move

Q/J: Equip Item

X/M: Autoattack (hold down for auto) or buy items in the shop

Y/N: Ability (costs 100 Mana!)

Space: Pause (shows Items/Equipment)

Enter: Select character/exit shops

Players can revive each other by walking into each other

Poetic introduction (Warning: Edgyness ahead!):

the worlds most peculiar game
Where everything you see is kinda strange
So buddy let us play

Rotten creatures - in a tower
being puppeteered by an eldritch power
You can die and lose a life so easy here

But let me first show you the brighter side
Of all these violent climes
There are things that will make you smile

Imagine all these trials
Causing you to release adrenaline for peak performance
Let's see if you get through this
Or succumb to your own hybris
Climb cursed towers up by going forward
If it won't make any sense like it is made in a PC game
Well take a guess why that is
In this lake of dreams and madness

Anglerfish as big as your mother
Soulsucking trees with eyes that will make you shudder
Inside a giant lake that has no end
But I will have to say
The thing that hides behind  - all these demons
A terrifying creature being far more evil
I just wanna slow you down so you don't see the truth
Did I even mention - the monsters I designed?
Where do I begin? Where do I begin?
Cause there are more than you might like:

A gimp suit ghost, a snail with eyes
Drama queen, horned slime
and a screeching spider
A snowman that's mad and a flying bat
Toothflower, Gods mouth, humanhead
Smiling blob, sun cultist, mold infested freak
edgy guy, a goblin army
Cuddly and distant clown, eyewalk thing
mannequinn, and bones serving skin
...and that, isn't even half of it!

I hope that you don't mind the darker parts
Of this startling art
it's the product of a hardened heart
A heart devoid of any empathy
But don't you dare thinking it's mine!

Imagine all this darkness
Contained in a single multiplayer bullethellgame
A world of endless torment
Its god remaining dormant

The clowns are acting out of habit
If you draw some parallels
And think that there is more to it
Be sure it's not real sadness
Just a lake of dreams and madness"
