The MUSEUM DOSE
You wake up in a MUSEUM. You don't know how you got there. You can't remember who you are. You should be trying to escape this place, however, your emotions may get the better of you before you can think rationally.
This game is a short project that is in essence a demo for a larger project that I intend to make in a visual novel format. It is a love letter to RPGmaker horror games, and all things Lynchian in nature.
There may or may not be a soul in the trashcan of my museum,
There will be updates to it, just to fix grammar/syntax errors, and to add further visual effects.
Look forward to 7 different endings! And none of them are good!
Total wordcount is around 18,500.
Can you escape the MUSEUM?
Might as well try, hey?
This game can be played directly in your browser!
**Content warning : mention of possible use of narcotics, body horror, death, mental illness, and existential dread.
However that last one is intentional.
I hope you have fun!
ETA: I've fixed some errors and reuploaded it.
A bit about me;
Hi! My name is Casey. I'm 25, Canadian, and I've never made a game before. I'm dirt poor, struggle with disabilities, and am currently starting up my own business as a form of self-employment. I have an art page on Facebook, instagram, as well as an entire website dedicated to my art!
I initially intended to become a career artist, however, I'm unable to afford the kind of schooling I'd need to become properly "certified on how to make art".
Art is my main passion. Video games are a close 2nd or 3rd.
I'm not a "gamer" so to speak, but I love how a piece of art can be made even more of an immersive experience when you play through and control it as well.
I was 11 years old when I discovered the RPGmaker/psychological/existential horror genre, and haven't gone back. Weird, obscure indie titles are my absolute favourite things to play still to this day.
It hit me some time last month that I could combine the two passions and learn to code. I am still learning.
This project took me around two weeks total to complete, however if I'd spent more time on it, I'd have finished it in about 5 days. I plan to make this into a full visual novel type game, and as the sole developer, author, visual artist, soundtrack composer, you get the idea. I want to try to take this on myself, though once I've got more proof of concept in the future, I may be open to gathering a small team of people to help me make this idea a reality.
Thanks for the read, and for the download.
