Once Upon a Nightmare

Once Upon a Nightmare is a stylized first-person platformer about a child named Jamie fighting through his dreams turned nightmare with whimsical and horror elements.


Jamie is guided by the spirit of his grandmother to confront not only his own fears but also that of his family which were listed in a dream journal, all in an attempt to rescue his teddy bear Fuzzy.


The player will use jumping, dashing, a mini trampoline, and other children’s toys to navigate unique nightmare-themed levels and the monsters held within!


The movement and platforming we have designed creates a unique first-person platformer, the dark dreamlike aesthetic draws the player into our game world, and the mysteries within the story helps drive the player forward.

Status:

The game is still in development so it is ever-improving, but there is a solid team of writers, designers, and artists working out an impactful story, memorable level design, and thrilling gameplay.
We hope to connect many basic childhood (and adult!) fears to our levels.

We plan to include scoreboards, clear timers, and collectibles.
Allowing the game to build a community of users who can compete against each other in speed runs and strive to be completionists.
We hope to make a replayable and memorable experience in an underserved genre of first-person platformers. 

Currently, we are on track for a completely free-to-play release in December 2022.
( No In Game Shop / Crypto / NFT / etc. )
