Evil Dwarves
General
This game is based upon physics of bullets (they ricochet from some surfaces) and behavior of dwarf-enemies. The enemies can shoot at you, swing axe, plant mines, and cover themselves with shields which also make your bullets ricochet. Shooting a shield-wielding dwarf might cost you your life (consequences!). Shooting (usually accidentally) one of the two big bells on the map will power up the spawn of the enemies and open additional gates from where they will flood.
The player can use the ricochet mechanics to defeat enemies. Be careful to not hurt yourself!
Warning NSFW: blood, gore, and lots of gunshots
So far there is only one map for which I managed to finish but I have more mechanics planned, as well as some enemy types that I designed but failed to include due to lack of time.
User Manual
Move with WASD, switch between weapons with 1-2-3, shoot with your mouse, and, when you've got enough, press Escape to exit to your desktop.
The Process Behind
I used the Unreal Engine to program the game and Blender to model dwarf meshes, main character mesh, and all objects that you can see in the level. All materials come from Unreal Engine's built in library, VFX have been purchased in the Unreal marketplace, as well as sounds of gunshots and explosions. I have also purchased a system for floating damage numbers. Programming was done with Blueprints, no C++.
I programmed a simple system of bullet physics from scratch which allows them to richochet from surfaces in a top-down shooter. They can move at arbitrary speeds, you can also configure the number of bounces and lifetime of projectiles.
