On remote island, surrounded by the Scottish waters, sits Seagrave Castle. The noble residence is the sole building on the rocky isle and is nothing to write home about… but each year, on the day of the winter solstice, the castle’s doors open to welcome nobles of different ranks and locations to offer them an evening of pure pleasure and fun. This, is what’s known as the Seagrave Ball.

A few days after their twentieth birthday, Rayne Crawford receives an enigmatic invite to join the ball. Reluctantly, they accept. At first, the evening seems to go smoothly: Rayne meets Aiden, a childhood friend with whom they had lost touch, as well as other nobles from all walks of life.

But everything takes a tragic turn when, between the first and second dance, the body of one of the guests is found. Shocked by the incident, the rest of the guests are forced by the Seagrave family to remain in the castle to undergo investigation. Rayne, along with their new acquaintances, receives an assignment from the heir of the castle, Siofra Seagrave: to discover the truth behind the murder ... but is it really a murder or just a tragic accident? Is the culprit among Rayne's new friends? And what about the heiress, who seems to be far too calm? Is she hiding something?

Everchanging is a murder mystery visual novel point and click and puzzle solving elements, as well as some otome elements. The story and setting of the game are heavily inspired by historical romance dramas, as well as paranormal fiction and the folklore legends of northern Europe.

The game is narrative-heavy, focusing primarily on character motivations and development, as well as the human condition. The gameplay allows for choices that impact the relationships with the other characters, and thus how the story develops... everything has a consequence.

Everchanging allows the player to choose the main character’s name and pronouns. Depending on the route, the interactions with the other characters range from friendly to romantic. Regardless of the player's gender identity, all the characters are open to flirting and reciprocating their feelings. Despite the game taking place in a Victorian-like setting, we wanted to create something that would be LGBT+ positive as it's a topic that is important to us.

Everchanging deals with heavy topics such as grief and mental health, and while there are fun moments scattered through the story, it's primarily intended for an older teen audience. There is no sexual content in the game, but there are implications of such. There are seven main characters, aside from the protagonist, all of whom play an important role in the plot and can be romanced depending on how the player deals with them.

The game starts with branching choices, which will determine the main scenario; there are currently eight planned scenarios, all of which have at least three endings and multiple differences depending on the player's choices. 

Currently, this is a demo build of the game. It contains only one scenario and three endings, to give players an idea of what the rest of the game will be like. The scenarios can be thought of as different timelines and can be played in any order- each will bring unique elements to the overall story.

The demo currently contains a few bugs- while we're planning to switch to a better engine during development, please don't be afraid to report bugs if you find any.
