もうすぐお別れとなる慣れ親しんだ部室に居たのは、見慣れぬ一人の少女。

俺の未完成の原稿を読んで、楽しそうに微笑んで──
そうして、俺を見つけて、距離を詰めてきて、言い出した。

「2年A組、桧ノ原つぼみ。創説部に入部します」

「どうしても続きが読みたいんです！　
　私、先生の作品の──先生のファンなんです！」

こちらをまっすぐ射る眼差しは、まるでサーチライト。
キラキラ輝く眼差し。夢を見る瞳。
抗えないひたむきな気持ちに心を動かされ、俺は桧ノ原の提案に乗った。

──こうして、創作と取材と青春と恋の夏が幕を開けるのだった。
